Located within the South Hams AONB the Tides Reach development consists of two new build bedroom wings for the new Hotel and the refurbishment of the existing building to form the Hotel ground floor and residential apartments on floors above. With a very tricky and highly inaccessible location one of the key challenges of this project is physically getting materials to it! Such a large development requires hundreds of cubic meters of concrete, tonnes of steelwork and hundreds of piles, one of We Are Ease’s first contributions to the project was to re-think the piling strategy making it feasible for the access restrictions.

As part of the Harbour Hotels group, the look and feel of the project combines a modern design aesthetic with contemporary features suited for the surrounding area to create a unique, family orientated hotel. The residential apartments boast some of the highest specification mechanical, electrical and interior design finishes to create special places to live, especially the large, open plan penthouse apartment which boasts an impressive floorplan unseen in the local area. One of the main features of the penthouse is a private crows nest nestled between the roof pitches that offers sweeping views of the Kingsbridge estuary.

We Are Ease were approached by the client to aid in value engineering and buildability for this project late in 2018 and through a detailed review of the existing proposals were able to suggest major superstructure changes and market testing allowing the project to progress to construction stage. A team of 4 permanent site-based We Are Ease staff are allocated to the project to hit the early 2021 opening milestone with the project currently in its main superstructure phase.
