Overview
The Scarlet Hotel is perfectly situated on a stunning cliff top location, overlooking Mawgan Porth beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel’s marketing takes an even more interesting position, promoting the luxury hotel for “grown-ups only” and an ideal escape for adults who want to recharge their batteries.
The hotel is also a prime example of how great design can work alongside sustainability. It incorporates a biomass boiler, grey water recycling and rainwater harvesting, alongside sea thrift-planted roofs. Materials and design are befitting of the hotel’s natural location – including cliff-top hot tubs and a natural reed-filtered swimming pool.
Immediately before helping to set up We Are Ease, one of our partners, Andy Cook, worked on a fixed term contract to assist with the delivery of the Scarlet’s project. Following completion of the building work, We Are Ease were in existence and tasked with undertaking post-contract duties and works, closing out five works packages and managing the successful completion of snagging and defects at the end of a 12-month period.
The Scarlet has since won many awards for its design and eco credentials, most notably at the UK Commercial Property Awards 2010, where We Are Ease was singled out for its contribution towards helping the hotel win Best Small Hotel and Construction UK.

“We appreciated early in the development process that delivering such a complex project with vast array of designers, contractors, suppliers and artists was going to be very challenging. To help us bring all the strands of the project together we employed Andy Cook. His experience enabled us to deliver our beautiful hotel without compromising our criteria for sustainability, cost and programme."
