Born in Croatia, Alen grew up in Melbourne, Australia, where he completed a degree in Engineering, before moving to the UK in 1994 and beginning his career in construction. He spent the first 10 years based in London, working on large scale projects including luxury apartments and houses, hospitals, and fire stations. Having holidayed in Cornwall every year during that period, he and his wife decided to relocate to enable their young family to enjoy a more outdoors lifestyle; they have never looked back. In the last 18 years, some of Alen’s most memorable projects are now landmark buildings across Cornwall, such as the Sainsbury’s stores in Helston and Penzance, and the high rise building at Cornwall College. As a project manager, Alen has a tenacious ability to dissect the most complex of projects and then apply a holistic approach in building successful teams, to ensure projects are delivered to his clients’ expectations. His daughters call him ‘Captain Slow’, but this only reflects his considered and ‘big picture’ way of thinking, (as frustrating as this may be for them)!

Alen has also completed some private development projects, the most iconic of which is The Observatory Tower in Falmouth, (which, incidentally, is available to rent for high days and holidays), but perhaps the dearest to his heart is his recent campervan build.

Alen’s 3 main passions in life are family, travel, and construction, and with his campervan he has manged to combine all 3, having recently undertaken an extended trip away to the Balkans, where he learnt more about his family heritage.
